New York City Elopement at City Hall & Central Park
Kim + Malte

Introducing Kimberly & Malte’s New York City Elopement!

Love has a mysterious way of bringing two souls together. Whether it is across countries, nations, or from one corner of the world to the other – it will find a way! Is there anything more romantic and dreamier then marrying the one you love in New York City

Kimberly & Malte’s New York City Hall and Central Park elopement was incredible. Their modern, intimate elopement ceremony took place in the city clerk’s office, right next door to the historic New York City Hall Elopement. Naturally, I was honored and excited to frame their memories with the exquisite architect of NYC Hall as the backdrop. Central Park was the perfect location for more fabulous NYC elopementcelebration pics.

As a professional elopement/wedding photographer, I have the honor of being a visual storyteller. I am eager to learn how my couples met and listen closely to every detail they are willing to share. This helps me to inscribe those raw and authentic emotions with my lens. Kimberly and Malte like many other bridal couples had their elopement plans interrupted do to Covid- 19. Their positive and resilient attitude ensured that no obstacle was big enough to stop them from becoming husband and wife.

About the Couple

Kimberly and Malte reached out to me one day before their New York City Hall Wedding. Their original plan was to tie the knot that weekend in Mexico, but like so many things, due to covid-19 they replanned. They had the choice to postpone, but they decided to go with the flow and have a City Hall and Central Park elopement. Fortunately, because that was the last day before City Hall would close its doors.

Who doesn’t love a good story? And you know me, as a visual storyteller, I am eager to learn how my couples meet and every detail in between so I can inscribe those emotions with my lens. Kimberly and Malte met on Tinder during the summer of 2015 while they were both living in Berlin. The incredible thing was that they didn’t meet in person while living in Berlin, and Malte was involved in a process that would eventually lead him to New York City! So, they met one week after he moved to New York City. For their iconic first date, Kimberly and Malte explored Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Intimate elopement photo session

Celebrating love never felt so good nor so poetic. Their intimate elopement photo session with the NYC architecture in the background was true art. The art of emotion, the art of two people deciding to let go of every plan and bind their love, the art of realizing that they are going to spend the rest of their lives together. The cityscapes were a gorgeous background for their wedding photography. I utterly enjoyed capturing this raw and candid happiness that flowed freely and filled all with joy and love.

Kimberly looked stunning in a unique, white, modern, long-sleeve elopement dress. Diamond-shape cut out in the lower back of the dress, with a puddle train and deep plunge V-neck front. I loved the twist of the dress at the waist and her open peek silhouette which revealed elegant white bridal heels. Malte wore a chic dark coloured tux with a fashionable floral tie. Their bridal bouquet and boutonniere were bright, happy tones of pinks, purples, and apricots.

How to Get Married at the City Clerk’s Office NYC

The City Clerk’s Office is NYC’s marriage bureau and is open for in-person only appointments. They request no drop-ins at all, and you can only attend if you have an email confirming your appointment. The website Project Cupid is set up to schedule an appointment for your city clerk’s office marriage ceremony and marriage license. They also give you an option to have a virtual appointment for your NYC marriage license, which is convenient.

The fee is $25, and you must wait 24hrs from obtaining the license to your beautiful elopement ceremony. There is a 60-day expiry date from the date you received the license, and you can use it anywhere in the state of New York to marry. If you choose to hold your civil ceremony at the City Clerk’s Office, you will need to bring one witness who is over 18yrs old with you. This of course can be a friend/family or if it is only your beautiful selves, as the photographer I’m able to be a witness.

Your witness must also bring identification, e.g., driver’s license, passport. The elopement ceremonies are held during regular office hours. Also make sure you are on time, no fashionable lateness as there will be other excited bridal couples waiting for their allotted ceremony time. Remember to bring your identification with you and plenty of smiles, this is your special day, and it will be fabulous.

Top Features of New York City Hall

New York City Hall is an historical masterpiece of French, English and American Georgian influences. Top features of the exterior are evident in the stunning elopement portraits taken of Kimberly and Malte. The grandiose entrance with its imposing Corinthian pillars and magnificent balustrade portico. Excellent restorative workmanship with marble, limestone, and granite is a romantic canvas for marriage photos. The rebuilt tower is a domed shape with an interesting, patterned ceiling. The New York City Hall is located right next door to the NYC City Clerk’s Office.

Top Features of Central Park

An authentic urban, chic elopement photo session at Central Park was the perfect ending to celebrate becoming MR & MRS.  Two beautiful souls beginning their married life together in the city of New York. Even though it was colder and there were no leaves to paint the perfect scenery, their minimalistic, modern eloquence and sophistication illuminated the whole elopement session. I love the romantic pics under the white flowers of the magnolia tree.

The dramatic photos at Bethesda Terrace are exquisite thanks to married sweethearts dancing and wonderful natural lighting. Arched columns, artistic ceilings, and lovely pendant lighting look magnificent. There is a golden glow that highlights the beauty of the Bethesda Terrace surrounds and Kimberly and Malte. So many options for dreamy elopement photography in Central Park, with lovely natural surrounds and top features. The beautiful seasonal trees and flowers, lush green lawns, water features, bridges, and winding paths in the heart of NYC, make Central Park a bridal haven.
