Destination Wedding in San Juan, Puerto Rico

In February 2023, New York couple Fabriana and Joel brought their friends and family to San Juan, Puerto Rico, for three days of wedding celebrations. They began with an engagement session in New York, so arriving in Puerto Rico to photograph this next chapter felt especially meaningful.

The celebrations opened with an intimate rehearsal dinner at Atelier Cocina Abierta, surrounded by their closest friends and family. The following day brought a welcome party at Casilda Cocina Creativa and a rooftop sunset—a chance for everyone to spend time together before the wedding day.

Hotel El Convento hosted the getting-ready, the ceremony, and the wedding celebration.

After spending the previous days together, I could recognize familiar faces and follow the connections between the people who had traveled to celebrate with them.

That’s something I love about photographing multi-day destination weddings: there’s time to notice more. The conversations over dinner, the anticipation before the ceremony, and the small gestures between family and friends all become part of the story. For Fabriana and Joel, documenting the full experience meant preserving not only their wedding day, but the gatherings and moments that surrounded it.

"We loved our engagement session with Nikki in New York so much that we hired her for our destination wedding in Puerto Rico. Across all three days, she paid attention to the little details and moments that meant so much to us.”
